Corrine Bailey Rea 'The Sea' Quick Review

I ALWAYS randomly ask myself the question, 'Is It Better To Have Loved And Lost Or To Not Have Loved At All?', and whilst listening to Corrine Bailey Rea's album 'The Sea', that question was swimming through my head even more. After the tragic death of her husband I questioned before I listened to the album, would it be flowing with broken hearted lyrics and soul aching interludes?

well yes, kind of, minus the interludes, what corrine has done is produce tracks such as 'Black Lilly' and 'Paris nights/New York mornings' that divert from her tragedy with there up tempo beats and light hearted lyrics.

As good as they were, my main focus's were songs such as the intro 'Are You Here', 'Closer', 'Love's On It's Way', 'I Would Like To Call It Beauty', the title track 'The Sea' and of course her current single 'I'd Do It All Again' which was written 2 months before her husbands death after they had had an argument, it was written as a tribute to the strength of the love she has for him.

What I expected is what I vibed more to, what I vibed more to is what I felt was the realist. When listenning to 'Id Do It All Again' I could relate and feel every word she sang...

"Someone to love is bigger than your prides worth, is bigger than the pain you got for it hurts, and out runs all the saddness, its terrifying, life, through the darkness, i'd do it all again"

Paying attention to the title track of the album 'The Sea', I can't help but think it represents life and love, and how they can both get taken away from you at the blink of an eye.

The Album is one I would without a shadow of a doubt push for you all to listen to, as it holds songs that ooze beauty and genuine feeling and have the potential to become future favourites.
